HHC — Handgun Holster Checkout
Holster Draw
Certification for Experienced Shooters Available for Handgun only
If you hold a current holster certification from a recognized program — IPSC, IDPA, or equivalent — you may qualify to bypass Level 3 and earn your Range Arts Holster Draw Certification through a direct RSO checkout.
This is not a course. It is a 20-minute evaluation of your existing skills against the Range Arts holster standard. If you meet it, you're certified. If gaps are identified, you'll be directed to Level 3.
You may be eligible if you hold certification from:
IPSC (any division requiring a holster)
IDPA (any division requiring a holster)
A recognized law enforcement or military training program
Another structured holster program — contact us if you're unsure whether yours qualifies
What the checkout covers:
Gear inspection — holster, belt, and magazine pouches must meet Range Arts equipment standards
5-step draw stroke evaluated for muzzle discipline and trigger finger discipline throughout
Reholster — slow, deliberate, eyes on the holster, every rep
Live draw to single shot at 5 yards — correct mechanics and hit required
Required Gear
What to Bring
Valid RPAL — must be on your person at the range at all times
Appropriate eye & ear protection
Semi-automatic handgun in serviceable, factory-safe condition
Minimum 2 magazines
50 rounds of ammunition (standard FMJ recommended)
Approved OWB holster — rigid Kydex or equivalent hardshell, strong-side only, made for your specific firearm, one level of retention or better
Rigid competition or duty belt — no flex, sag, or movement

Proof of your existing holster certification
Holster standards are strictly enforced. Appendix carry, cross-draw, shoulder holsters, SERPA-style retention holsters, soft or collapsing holsters, and universal-fit holsters are not approved. Your gear will be inspected before any evaluation begins.
